Hey guys just bought this boat this winter with a yamaha 150 anyone have a 150 yammy on a trophy 175 how fast do you think ill be able to get this up to i would like to see the 50 mph mark.
Where do you guys mount rod holders and downrigger brackets do you use special flush mounts or something.
Ill be using a 2005 Murano with the V6 to pull this thing anyone doing that i used to pull a 1700 explorer with that vehicle but the trophy 175 is a bit bigger.

I think you will see mid to upper 40's but not 50.

When I set up my boat They did not have so many of the Vertical rod holders that they do now. I loaded up on regular rod holders for a track system. I would get two of the 3 rod vertical rod holders mounted on a track system. You can also get downrigger mounts for Tracks. The ones with built in swivels are nice. For that boat I would get the low mounts. Look at Traxtechs website.

You're going to be around 2800 lbs for that rig and your vehicle is rated to 3500 lbs. She'll pull it, but will most likely struggle at times. I wouldn't plan on going on long trips, rather keep it to a couple hour trips. Remember, any weight you add in the vehicle takes some weight away from the tow rating. So if you load up the vehicle and boat, most likely you'll be over your rating.
As far as speed with the boat, you should be mid to upper 40's. 50 should be difficult, but you may see it if you're lucky. The smaller dominators and navigators might get right to that 50 mph mark, but they are smaller/lighter boats.

i understand that fact about the weight, i have installed a heavy duty transmission cooler and better shocks to handle the weight.

That will help with your tranny but the chassis of the vehicle is where you get a lot of the tow rating. You put that same motor/tranny in a 1/2 ton truck and your tow rating would be a couple thousand pounds higher. It's not always about the motor/tranny as much as the vehicle being used. You have to think about the brakes, weight, wheelbase etc. on the vehicle. All of these things come into play with the tow rating. I'm not telling you this vehicle won't pull the boat. I'm just saying it's not ideal so be a little careful when pulling it.
Have fun with the boat. She should be an awesome rig for you. I have a Navigator 175 with the same Yamaha 150 on it in my near future.

According to Alumacraft's performance PDFs, back in 2000 a Trophy 185 (a bigger boat) topped out at 49.5 mph with a 150hp VMAX. So, you'll probably be pretty close.

So there may be a chance then.

There is a chance. I hope you do get it. You may have to play with props a bit. I feel the same way, when I get my boat I described earlier I want to be able to hit 50. Not that I would hardly ever, but 50.1 does sound better than 49.9 even though no one would ever even notice.

Exactly, I have decided to trade the Murano off for a 2008 dodge 1/2 ton 4 door with a Hemi im sure that will pull it just fine we do usually drive about 4 hours one way for a fishing weekend and 3 times a year we drive 8 hours one way so i think this is the better option.

For about 2 months I was disillusioned that my VW Jetta could tow my Fisherman 160. Total package with trailer was probably around 1250 or so. Jetta has a tow rating of 2000, so I was fine in my mind. Found out it could tow fine, but FWD cars aren't good for boat landings. That didn't last long... traded one of our 2 Jettas for a Touareg V8 for towing. Much better. :)
You'll appreciate having the right tool for the job.
krenkey, good luck with the new boat.
I just picked up a 2010 195, with the F150. Haven't had it in the water yet either. Still rigging. Put in a 3 bank charger, and Humminbird 798. Have a MinnKota 80lb Fortrex going on next. Be interested to see what you decide on for rod holders, not sure what I'm gonna do. Post pics if you can, when you decide. As for speed, I'm expecting low 40s, maybe 45, but I'm 255lbs heavier for the hull alone.
Good luck, Gary

You'll be much better off towing with that truck. It was made for that.

I have a 2009 185 trophy with a 175 etech and I have seen 50 mph on the right condition's.It also took me 5 diff prop's testing as Alumacraft and my dealer had no data on a 175.
And my 175 with a 115 2 stroke hits about 35....so even with scaling up and optimizing, it might be a bit of a reach. Walleye don't swim that fast, anyway......

Walleye definately dont swim that fast but some of the lakes i fish on takes 2 hours by water to get to the best walleye fishing in the world
