03 yamaha waterpump impeller

Guys -

I am changing out a water pump on an 03 75hp yamaha 4 stroke and although i know the impeller is supposed to be tight, i can't get it to slide off.

Any ideas or suggestions?

HI. first off do you have the maintenace instructions for changing it? could there be a set screw holding it? the ones i have changed have always just slid off but who knows for sure with out the instructions. pentrating oil, a little heat is all i can think of. you might end up having to split the impeller somehow. good luck. maybe someone else will come up with something better. alan

I stoppd by the local yamaha service dealer and they said the best way was to split it...so thats what I did...10 minutes later key removed and now putting things back together.
