Has anyone tried using one of the Cabela's sonar screen covers on a HDS unit yet. I would guess they were designed for older Lowrance units, but would like to try one on a HDS-8.

I purchased one of the RaptorCap guards for the HDS and with the velcro strip required to mount the RaptorCap, the OEM cover is very tight when the RaptorCap is not in use. Basically the Lowrance cover flattens the Velcro, so just curious if one of these Cabela's covers is an option.

If you're talking about the neoprene covers, I am not a fan of them. They trap moisture and humidity next to the unit, and can cause condensation build-up. I'd rather have my units out in the air where they will dry out. Moisture and electronics .... not a good combination ....

i've got one of their covers on my hds8 on the helm, also mounted a 334C off the stern, have one of the smaller neoprene covers on it......they both work well......no issues.......I agree with the previous post about moisture...common sense dictates make sure everything is dry before it gets re-covered...........

I like them. They keep the morning dew off the units so I don't have to wipe them off in the morning.

Jackpot41, do you mind me asking which one of the cover from you purchased that fits the HDS8, they offer a few different sizes.

Thanks for the feedback, I am interested in just using it when the boat is in my garage so I think one will work fine for my needs.
