I've got a dumb question that I can't seem to find an answer to in the Lowrance manual. Which way does the structure scan transducer mount to the transom to have the left and right views show up on my unit right. cord mounted towards the transom or away from the transom? Thanks.

Cord to the transom is the way the unit is set up out of the box.

If you mount it cord away from the transom, like on a step mount, you can go into a menu setting to flip the left and right views so it correctly corresponds to the boat.

Look in the manual that came with the lss-1. Under Flip /left right you can shange orientatinon with the hds unit itself doesnt matter how you mount it.

Thinking about getting a new Lowrance and a Lss-1 structure scan. Just how big is the transducer anyhow. Looks big when you find it on a web site. Just curious as to how hard it would be to mount up

The StructureScan transducer/mounting bracket's measurements are: From front to back 8 inches. From side to side 2 inches. From top to bottom 1 inch. The piece that attaches to the transome is about 2.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. The transducer plate that the transducer is mounted on is attached to the transome mount with two bolts with locknuts, one on each side so if something strikes the transducer the transducer will flip up. According to the instructions the LSS-1 StructureScan transducer should be mounted within 12 inches of the HDS transducer to show correct overlay picures on the HDS screen. Hope this information helps you.
