Help! I am having problems connecting to my MMC Interface using MapCreate 5 and Windows XP. Lowrance's technical support is not very expansive. Basically, upon trying to connect to the MMC Card I receive a RunTime Error and the program shuts down. This happens on both of my machines running Windows XP - but everything works properly on the machine running Windows ME.
Has anyone else had this problem and figured it out? I have made many many changes to my parallel port configuration with no luck so far.
Thanks in Advance!!

There are numerous programs out there that are not compatible with XP.
I was told however, that there is a way to allow XP to become compatible with 95/98/ME versions of software. But, I am not aware of how. I will look into it further to see if there is any truth to that. If so, maybe I can find the answer to how.

A simple fix is to go to the new MapCreate 6 and it will work great. I had the same problem with XP, installed version 6 and it works great. There was a post a few days ago that stated you would need to also download the newest version of the Sonar Viewer to make MapCreate 5 work with XP.

You will most likely have to install an upgrade from Lowrance(it should be free) Try there web site for solfware upgrades or call them. They are usually very helpful.I've had to do this on most all my extra's since I've gotten XP.(Camera,Printer,Scanner,Web Cam, Etc.) But love the XP.

Well - after many more hours of fiddling - I finally got this to work using a combination of Bios Changes and Software Settings. I now need to figure out what I did so that I can change my other computer to work with the MapCreate 5 also.
If anyone needs help out there - I might be able to assist in getting theirs to work now.

Lowrance told me to install the sonar viewer software (Free download from their web site). It fixed the problem for me.
