I run a 128, brother has a 126. Mine is used on a hard top, so I wanted the external antennae. The units are very easy to use and store more than enough waypoints for me. If you don't need mapping these are very good permanent mount units.

I agree with Bob. A lot of features and stuff the others don't have. I have one and love it. If you don't need the mapping, they're great.

I have the Garmin 128 on my hard top, and the 126 on the soft top. This is my third year for using them. They hold up great and are very easy to use (love the plotter). If you are going to fish familar waters this is all you need. However, if you travel to many different fishing locations then you might want to invest alittle more and get the 162. The mapping comes in handy in unfamilar waters. Either way you will get a good product for the price.

I really like my Garmin 126. I placed it on my boat next to my fish locators and have had no problems with location. It is very user friendly. I use my boat to prefish tournaments and to fish a lot of local waters. I am fortunate to fish out of my partners rig for the tournaments (it's a fantastic rig and if he's reading this Thank you for the opportunities and enjoyment that tournament fishing has brought). I carry my Garmin unit in a blue box to share the waypoints that I have found and to mark others. I like the little larger screen while rocking in the waves. If you are interested in creating this set up, you will need to order an extra power cord #10-10083-03 it's about 20 dollars, also some padding for the battery in the blue box. I've had a terrible time trying to get a hold of someone at Garmin. I'm still waiting on a second power cord. Good luck!
