ANOTHER 9.9 pro kicker issue!

alright, was going to do some trolling on green bay today. The kicker fires right up revved up..,when I brought it back down to idle it dies right away. doesnt even try to hang on. I put new plugs in it as the old ones looked horrible! the fuel was staibilzed. fuel filter is flowing well....Where to start? Last seaon ran ok other than sometimes slowing when I would run at a set spped for a while...alwasy idles...??thought? Its a 07....

when it is being revved up ot does sound like it is missing and I dont think that the rpms are going up as high as they used to.

It sounds like the idle jet could be clogged. It can be taken out and cleaned by poking a small wire through the hole removing the clog. Pretty common with kickers since the idle jet hole is so small.

Sounds like a gas fault not kicker fault. Gas with ethanol tends not to last long even while treated. The carb bowl is the biggest problem and the most likely cause of the problem. Varnish likely formed in bowl during storage. Take it apart and clean it or have someone do it for you.

Might take a look at the fuel pump. The last time I had a problem similar to yours was with a little Johnson 6 hp and it would start but not run real well. Put in a new fuel pump, real easy to do back then, and it worked like a charm until I got rid of it.

It worked fine last sept when I put it away so I am hoping it is bad fuel. Maybe the dealer didnt run it after they put the stabil in?????? gumed up the carb maybe?????????????????????????????????????????/

it happen to me. they are cold blooded motors. did you leave the choke out for some time. seems to me i have to let mine warm up, or the same thing happens to me. also they have the throttle only button. sometimes this helps keep the motor running when cold. hope this helps. how was the fishing

My pro kicker did the same thing last spring. I tried everything. The idler injector was clogged. It would run good at higher rpms, but as soon as I slowed it down to troll it would die. I had the boat winterized. What upset me was the dealer that winterized it wouldn't fix it. I ended up switching dealers to work on my motor and they cleaned the injector and it ran good all last season.

The new dealer said that there is a lot of poor gas out there and that I should only burn premium.
