I have looked at quite a few used 22WA Sportcrafts but never see any rigged with a kicker motor. Wouldn't this be almost a must on the
Great Lakes. Thanks Ray
I own a 252 sportcraft inboard and troll erie with the use of trolling bags as slow as 1.5 @600 rpm's with no problem. Just replace the plugs every 250-300 hrs lot cheaper than kicker.Huck

1999 22' Sportcraft 211 WAC with 4.3L V6 EFI and can troll down to about 1.8 MPH according to my GPS, I plan on trying the drift bags this year.
With a good tail wind and my canvas top and windshield in I can drift at 1.5 MPH and use the outdrive as a rudder, nice and quiet.

What I was referring to were outboard motors, the cost of a tow if the main engine doesn't start may be more than the cost of a kicker motor. Thanks Ray

if its tow in cost you are worried about, spend $45.00 for a yearly tow in service. I would not be without it.
Mine is a 1991 SportCraft 232-WAC using a 1989 Suzuki 200 hp, engine on a Gil bracket. We fish off shore, typically about 40 miles out. I have never had a kicker engine. Last year we were towed for the first time ever (though I have towed quite a few folks over the years). I belong to Sea Tow, it cost $95 a year. The bill for my one towing experience (we were roughly 32 miles off the beach when a short killed the engine) was $1,000 even. I simply signed the bill and that was that. If this shows up here's the boat at the dock at Oregon Inlet, NC., which is where we fish from mostly. If it doesn't show up just follow the link:

Thanks for the info I wasn't aware of the towing service, unfortunately I fish quite a few different lakes so I think a kicker may be the way to go. Thanks Ray

Huck:
You should talk to a Champion spark plug rep. They can help you "dial in" in your spark plug requirements so you won't have to replace them so much.
They have put a lot of effort into improveing their applications & I know from the experience for a lot of the boaters where we keep our boat you will be happy.
We have 2 years on our plugs & will probably look into changing them mid year just to be safe.
