Per my previous post which everyone was very helpful, I decided to find someone local in southern Ohio to repair my transom on my Lund Tyee. If anyone knows someone in this area that does this kind of work, please let me know as the one Lund dealer has told me that it would be later this summer. Thanks again, I appreciate all the help.

You should contact Lund customer service. They may be able to refer you to someone specifically qualified for the repair.

Check out and ask the other boat dealers in your area.
You might find a good fix and good dealer to go to for future business.
I had my old sea nymph fixed by my dealer under warranty, They used a local aircraft mechanic.
I had a utility 14 foot boat. the hull was flexing too much and cracking the rear seat support. I had an extra rib placed in my boat. the rear seat had to be removed and replaced to do this, a lot of riveting.
The boat was better than new when done.
Treated wood chemicals will corrode aluminum, Beware!
I don`t know why builders don`t go to a plastic composite insted of useing wood now days.
What Lund wants for their boats there should be no problems for life.
I have a 1999 16 ft Fisherman, so I`m not knocking Lund, but I`d have no problem replacing it someday with another brand in a 18ft hull. Can`t afford the price on the new Lunds.

Read your original post.

Very surprised you did not get a better response from Lund. Used to be they were always interested in helping out their customers, even if not original owners. SOme years ago on a previous Lund I owned,I was second owner, needed a major repair, they had a flat rate for the repair, met me 50/50 on it and only charged me 1/2 the cost for the shipping. (shipped it to Lund from my dealer for free on the empty truck after a delivery. Charged me only for the return trip because it took up a spot on the truck where a new boat should have been.)

Overall very reasonable cost. Sometime later they even sent me some new carpeted front deck pieces for free when they started rotting. All this however was in pre Brunswick days. Sounds like things have changed.

I have been playing phone tag with Lund and hope to talk to them in the next day or so and waiting for another estimate from a local repair shop. Thanks again for all the info!
