View Full Version : Shore fishing Winnebago area
I'm new to the Appleton area am looking for places to fish from shore. I'm looking for spots where I could catch either walleye or white bass. Places to go panfishing are also welcomed. I'm also willing to travel up to Green Bay and would like to try the Wolf River. Thanks in advance!

It's not the wolf but the Fox at Omro provides some great area for shore fshing for the walleye and white bass run. I think Omro should be commended for their work with boat landings and shore fishing areas.

There is a nice Tee shaped fishing pier located in Rainbow park in Oshkosh. ( About 1 mile East of Hy 41 on Hy 21) I launch my boat there often and see people catching fish from that dock. It's open to the public and bait is available nearby at Fox River Bait & Tackle)
Try out the new Winnebago Walleyes site at <walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/winnebago> You will get a lot of specific info relating to the Bago area. The Wolf has been very busy. Lots of boats out and lots of guys fishing from shore along county X. The last couple days it was Walleye Weekend in New London. Hard to get a parking space near the ramp. I will be getting out this week for the first time this year. Not as much traffic on the river Mon through Fri. Tight Lines!

We fish the bridge where the Wolf River crosses the highway in Winneconne. THat can be an outstanding spot for both walleye & WB. If that run is not going now, it will be this week. Good Luck!

The walleye fishing on the wolf pretty much is not going to happen this year the water is just too low.Don't get me wrong there will be some walleye caught just not the numbers everyone is used to.There is a fishing pier at assylum bay it is off of cty hwy A just after the nut house if you are heading to oshkosh. Also you can fish the lighthouse in Neenah the walleye should be moving into the shallows at night very soon. The Neenah and Menasha dams are excellent places to fish for both species.Jeferson park is another place in Menasha.Good Luck

If you're looking for something away from the crowds, try Calumet County Park on the east shore just north of Stockbridge. Very ample parking, and a lot of shoreline with rocks. It won't be long and the walleye will be roaming these rocks. The harbor there is also a good spot for sring crappie fishing. Take HWY 114 east to HWY 55. Follow HWY 55 south through Sherwood towards Stockbridge to CTY EE. Go right (west) on CTY EE to the park and follow the signs to the boat landing.
