Recently had my bearing repacked. I also have bearing buddies and I've not had this issue in the previous 3 years of having this boat. On the bearing buddies if some "blue" is showing it means you don't need to add grease. When I picked up the boat from dealer all was good. Drove home, and blue ring was gone - pushed back in. I added some grease, went fishing, hour drive, same thing happened. This doesn't seem right at all. Thought I'd look for some info before I talked to the dealer about this. I'm terrible with mechanical issues and I know many of you are very knowlegable. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Very much appreciated.

My experience with Bearing Buddies is just like what you've described. After re-packing the bearings, there is air trapped in the hub that is slowly expelled. I add grease before the next, oh-say, 5-6 trips, but eventually that stabilizes and I rarely need to add grease. Then, I repack the bearings and the cycle starts all over again. :)

It's best to add the same type of grease used for repacking.

I would also make sure your not loosing grease out the backside of your hub seal also. Even if a new seal was installed, things happen. You will definetely be able to tell mainly from grease all over inside of your rim.

Previous 2 posts are correct. Make sure you add same grease your dealer used. If problem persists you probably have a seal leak and the inside of the rim will tell the story. Once all the air is out, there is no leak and you can see the blue sleeve, don't add grease just because "its been awhile". As long as the blue sleeve shows-all is well. The biggest problem with Bearing Buddies is they are over greased. When repacking, if you take the time to pack the hub and BB cap full when assembling, this problem is minimal.
