Wow am I excited. Really looking forward to getting out on Open water. Reed's in Walker really took care of me. I had tried to get one from Cabela's and they told me they would not sell me one until the regular X-15 stock ran out. This has been my first disapointing experience at Cabela's ever. Reed's bent over backwards for me. Props out to them.

Good for you, I just found out it is going to cost me $129.95 to swap out my GPS reciever for the WAAS enabled version. I bought it only three months ago, and would have held out had I known.

doc,

How are you getting one for $129? I was looking at changing mine out and lowrance wants $269 on the website.

Just ordered mine today from Thorne's, along with an X-51 for the bowmount, Ram Mounts, and the Region 5 chip. Good price, friendly service from Josh. Now if my Eagle trailer would get to the dealer, I can get the boat home to work on it!

This is the response I got from Lowrance. I'm not sure WAAS is worth $130.

Thank you for your inquiry. Both the software update and the hardware
exchange are just now available. You will need to contact Customer Service
at 1-800-324-1356 to arrange the module exchange. Have the LGC-12S
module serial number available and a representative will be able to assist
you. There is a charge of $129.95 for the LGC-12W.
You will have to dowload and install the latest software upgrade (ver 2.2) from the Lowrance web site.

i know this has been discussed before but,i believe the waas benefits will be minimal in the upper midwest. at least that is what i have heard from lowrance.

I know this will sound dumb...but what is WAAS and if I ordered an x-15 which will be arriving first week of may...how do I make sure I get the latest on it? thanks

I think it is Wide Area Augmentation System. There are two satelites that are on a geosynchronus orbit in the pacific and atlantic ocean borders of the USA. They are postioned over the equator. With my Garmin handhelp 76, the waas coverage seems to run around 18ft error. (the screens shows you this information on my gps) The farther you are north of the equator, the less effective it will be. I am in Wisconsin. The value is up to you, but most folks just want it all, and see what happens later. I would speculate that all the X15s producted will be waas capable, because that is the trend. Call lowrance to be sure.
Good luck,

Sunshine

Just ordered my 3000 from Josh at Thorne's along with Ram Mount and the Region 5 chip. It's back ordered but they're expecting shipment at anytime. All units are supposed to be coming with new WAAS and 2.2 software. Can't wait
