Hey I am going out of a launch just below the ambassador bridge and want to jig walleyes on the river for the first time. Just curious how the Canadian shore below the bridge has been? How deep are people fishing what size jigs/ bait?

Any help appreciated.

I havnt fished on that side ( no licsence), but i have read reports from Lance Valentine that said the Canadian side had been better for the past few days to a week. Looked like 26 to 34 fow fishing by the salt docks with 3/4 to 1oz jigs in orange, white, and bubblegum colors. Camo color worms red tail chub bio minnows and pearl colored minnows did the trick.

Is the salt mine the one right downstream from the Chewitt St launch? or is it the next plant downstream?

Not sure about Chewitte launch, i believe the salt docks are across from great lakes steal, a bit south of the bridge. Sounds like we better fish deeper areas with this cold front and the wind, good luck

I have been fishing Chewitt and the salt mines for about 4 weeks now w/ some pretty good luck. The salt mines are about a 15 min drive from chewitt (25 mph)(to the east). If you want to fish the salt mines(pretty slow for the last 10 days) i would suggest docking your boat out of lasalle because the salt mines are just east of the dock.
When fishing chewitt you can start at the (red dock)just before the bridge and try to hold 28-32 fow of water while holding as close to the shore as possible. We have had our best success this year w/ 3/8 oz. jigs tipped w/ Fin-s plastics and tipped w/ a live minnow on tough days.
Be carefull out there today as the north wind will make conditions very tough and getting your boat back into chewwitt dock w/ a strong north wind makes it very tough at times.(Not a very good dock, but it is free to launch)I was out there last night and this wind was starting to stir up our side pretty good.Water might be a little dirty. When I get out there today I will be focusing on the american side to stay out of the wind.
Hope this helded you out a little.
Cheers
