Looking for information on the Down East rod holders. I would like to use them for trolling on a 14 foot camp-type of boat (fly-in fishing trip). Intend to troll for walleye and lake trout.

Will the regular version work for this? Or do I need to up-grade to the saltwater series?

Thanks.

Can't see the need for anything more than the standard type. I use them on my canoe. The one issue might be do they fit on the gunnel of the boats you use. For example, my Down East holders don't fit the round gunnels on my jonboat. Check it out.

The main difference in the two, is the Salty model is made for heavier fish, and has a double bracket on them. the salty model is what most musky fishermen use. good luck and good fishin.

Yes, it is that double bracket that I think may be useful for trolling - less chance for pivoting.
