The last two years I have seen an interesting thing happen and I am just wondering if it is common where you fish. I can pretty much take the first major drop off of shelves and troll deeper water at the same level as the shelf and connect with active fish,(and unless I'm going goofy that is the hot depth throughout the lake or body of water.) Castle rock 6-8ft deep over 6- 30 ft of water. Winnebago and chain 4-6 ft of water over any depth over 4 ft. Pettenwell 4-6 feet over any depth over 4 feet. Clear Lake Iowa 4-6 feet deep in any water deeper than 4 ft. Spirit Lake Iowa.6-8 feet over any depth of water deeper than 6 feet. I am ofcource fishing for mostly the suspended and feeding fish, and troling many different kinds of cranks. This seems to be true for lakes and flowages-resevoirs. Does this seem to be true on waters you fish. Lawrence Ecklor
