O.K. here's the situation. I live near Rochester, NY and our season doesn't open for another couple of weeks. I've been reading all the posts about the size and numbers of walleye available right now. Would someone (or lots of someones) please recommend a trip to Erie for me in the next week or two. I know trolling is very productive but I would rather cast or jig. As I only have a 14' with 25hp, I would need a charter boat. I have plenty of vacation time available so mid week wouldn't be a problem. I really don't want to drive more than 8-10 hours each way (Cleveland is 4.5-5 hours). Thanks in advance as I know someone will have an answer for the fix I need.

One more time. Now that WC seems to be back up and running at normal speed, can anyone PLEASE suggest a location on Erie where I can go and catch some walleye. I really don't want to miss the fantastic bite that is going on. Thanks

Pete,
I'd suggest a trip to the Port Clinton area SOON! I run trolling trips, but there are many fine drift Captain's in the Port Clinton area. I'd also suggest another posting changing the subject to something like "looking for erie charter western basin." Port Clinton is about an hour and a half farther west from Cleveland. About 10 miles west of PC is Wild Wings Marina. There are many fine Captains that dock at Wild Wings, which is one of the closest marinas to the prime reef action. Email me if you'd like, and I'll forward you some contact information for some guys I'd recommend.
