My boss is looking for a charger, and he thinks the 2610 is for him. I told him to go with the 2623. What is the difference besides price?

Hi Rick,
Differences between 2610 and 2623 are- 2610 is for 2 12 volt batteries and cannot be used for a 24 volt series. It is normally used on a small cruising vessel as it does not come pre-wired. The 2610 should charge batteries up in 10-12 hours.
2623 is for 2 trolling batteries, either 12 volt or 24 volt series, with a third output for the start battery. All three banks of this charger are separate chargers. The 2623 should charge the batteries up in 5-6 hours.
I would be happy to recommend the best charger for your bosses system if you or he would call me toll free at Guest at 1-888-483-7865 ext 135 with the boat details.
Have a great day!

Sue, cannot communicat on the phone becase I'm hearing impaired.
I have a 2611 charger on my boat to charge my Trolling Thunder - 12/24V Pro Pack gell cell battery. It seems to do the job but I was wondering if there was a more efficient 2 bank Guest charger. I dont really need a 3 bank charger but would consider one if you think it would be more efficient tha the 2 bank 2611. TIA

Leo, look at the 2613. 3 bank 13amp 12/24 charger. You can connect both TM leads to one battery if you only have one and the other lead to the starting battery. This system will allow you to also do 24V if you ever move to that type of system. Very reliable set up that I have on my boat. $179 at Cabela's

Leo,
The 2611 charger is the charger that I recommend for a weekend angler. You can look into the 2620 if you wish a faster charge. The 2620 is 2 separate 10 amp chargers in a single housing and will charge your batteries up in 5-6 hours.
Have a great day!

Aqua Man, always nice to hear from you but I think I'll go along with Sue's suggestion for the 2620.
Sue, Thanks for the reply. I think I'll go with the 2620 and the 10 amp charging. The one I have now is only 5 amps charging, correct?
Hey Leo,
Either will work, but I am with Aquaman - for a little bit more $$ you can always make sure your cranking battery is up to snuff as well. While not needed, is nice for winter are anytime where keeping a full charge is nice. Our motor is EFI, so if we just hit local no wake little lakes where we can't open it up for a recharge, the third bank is needed for our uses.
But either is great, and I love Guests.

Ha, Ha, Ha, what a joker. You think I'm going to drive 330 miles from Chicago to Wabasha just to charge up a battery?????????????
Sue,
I bought a 2623 at the beginning of last year along with two new deep cycle trolling batteries. Everything seemed to work okay all year until late last fall. I noticed that battery #2 was boiling over and the charger was still charging it (the LED was on) long after the other two batteries were fully charged. I filled the battery with water again and it still did the same thing. After checking voltage on both batteries, this one was under 12 volts and the other one was over 13. Hooked them all up again this spring and everything is the same. My guess is that the one battery is bad - but after only one year? It has never had any other charger on it besides the Guest. Any ideas?

WJW,
It is possible that the battery has a bad cell, causing the charger to keep charging and boiling the water out of the battery. It is also possible that there is a component malfunction in that bank of the charger that is causing the boiling.
I would recommend load testing the battery to see if it is good. I would also suggest that you swap the trolling leads between your batteries and watch to see if the lights stay red and green with the boiled battery or do they move. If they move, it is the charger and you should send it in for warranty.
Have a great day!
