I have an X-15 I bought new last Feb. from Reeds at a Sports show. I had my local dealer install it for me and it has never worked right !
I called Lowrance and the first time they told me to try a different transducer, which I did...still not working right. They had me reset it and download the update....still not working right. So then they sent me a brand new unit, I tried it and same problem. I called them and they said to run the power wire direct to the battery so as not to be getting interference from my other sonar or radio etc. Well that was the end of last season and by the time I got it done I could not test it. I got my boat out of storage last week and tried it out today everything on the boat works great except the X-15 STILL !!!

For anyone curious enough to read all the way through and smart enough to help me figure this out... Here is what it does/ or does not do. I cannot get the sonar to lock in consistantly it just keeps flashing the depth like it is not locking in. Then every once in a while it will lock in and work great for 5-10 minutes. Then back to the same old lots of the time it flashes 505 ft or 1024 ft deep.

Help Please !!!

I have a couple of question about your unit. What version is the software in the unit. What kind of tranducer are you running and is it a single or a 50/200.

I know my transducer is a single the guy from Reeds convinced me i did not need the 50/200 since I do not do a lot of fishing in deeper water. The version I am not sure of I know it was the most current version last September when they sent me the new unit. How can I tell which version it is ?

The version is 2.1

Jeff, odds are it’s not the unit (possible but not probable) since you have the same problem with a second unit. What I would do is to get a well-charged battery, (take one out of a car or lawn mower) and hook the x-15 directly to it. Keep the leads between the battery and the unit as short as possible. This will tell you if your problem is electrical or not. If that does not cure the problem then get a new transducer, tape it to a broom handle, stick it in the water after hooking it to the unit and see what that does.

You may also want to see where your transducer is located and see if you are loosing bottom from prop wash or turbulance from under the boat, that's why it is not locking on to bottom, that's why it flashing. Hope that helps

If you are running a Merc w/smartguages remove the smartgauge transducer and try it. The sonar signal may be blowing out the X15. lanny

No smart guages on this boat, I think I have ruled out the prop wash because it does the same thing sitting still. looks like not gonna try denied's suggestion this weekend pretty cold here and too much wind for anything productive.

It sounds like the angle of the transducer is improper. Try adjusting this in very small increments. Usually not a large adjustment. Good luck on the Lake.

I had the same deal. After one trans. and a new uint. I finally got it to work. Just loaded 2.2 update. My guess is you got another bad unit. They must of made a batch of faulty ones. The unit is awesome.

I am going out friday and I am gonna call Lowrance from the boat, hopefully I can get my dealer to let me borrow a transducer and I am gonna bring an extra battery and try some of the above suggestions. When it is working it is twice the sonar of my Pinpoint and I really want to use it this year !!

I am really glad to hear someone else had the same problem so now I will not feel like they think I am an idiot when I call!

Thanks
