Looking at buying a new rod for cranks and using fireline in it. Have always used mono before and I know that fireline is abrasive to guides. What kind of guides should I be looking for to use with fireline? If I decide I don't like it and go back to mono are there any issues I would have?

Thanks in advance

Fireline, or any other superline, does NOT wear out guides. This is a myth that for some reason still persists. Some of the original superlines contained substances such, as Kevlar, that was abrasive to guides. Today's lines are made from polyethelyne. Think milk jugs. It is a naturally "waxy" plastic and is self lubricating. ANY guides will be just fine.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

Second the vote, I've been using fireline on my rods for about five years now, and I don't have a single mark on my eyes. Especially the newer SIC guides and such.....they will never wear out.....
