How do most of the lakes in these areas look? Are we gonna be pretty much Ice out?

All open in NE SD as far as I know. Boat traffic is picking up, and the fish seem to be biting at least reasonably well.

Several of the lakes in the Fergus area are open. Otter Tail went out on Monday.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

All the small lakes in the Virginia, Cook area of St Louis county went out yesterday. Lake Vermilion will follow in two weeks.

All the ice is gone and the fishing is picking up in SD, although the cool, front moving through today is going to slow it down again. Water temps on area lakes are already in the mid 50's (surface).

Eyecatcher_1,

Thanks all for the ice reports! I will be fishing NE SD next weekend (April 27) if the weather turns around. If you have any suggestions, thanks in advance. I have fished Enemy Swim and Waubay a few times but would like to try some others too.

Do any of these lakes offer good crappie fishing? I would like to try a lake that may have walleye and crappie or perch since I will be taking my Dad and son with.

Just heard a report that they're catching crappie on Waubay and Blue Dog Lake. No ice on the lakes, but as of today, no ramps were in.
