Does anyone have actual experience with Garmin GPS system with Fishing Hot Spots Maps. I have Garmin 162 with region 13 maps. I am wondering how accurate these maps are. If I drive to sunken Island shown on my GPS and check my sonar will I be right on it??? If I troll a submerged road bed, creel channel, or railroad bed shown on my GPS will I be right on it? I haven't been out to compare the GPS / Fishing Hot Spots Maps with my own known structures.

I have a Garmin 182 w/hot spots for the Kentucky region and the Bluecharts for Lake Erie. The Bluecharts are much more accurate concerning structure, but they are not available except coastal areas and the great lakes. The Hot Spots are definately better than nothing.

Absolutely! I have the 162 and FHS. On several lakes I have been amazed that my sonar started to drop off as soon as my GPS said I was over the creek channel. I was on Hilsdale in Kansas and wanted to test it so I drove over to where there were three foundations shown on the map. As I approached them and trolled over them, my sonar actually showed the foundations and the chimneys!!!! I found the same on Truman, Lake of the Ozarks, stockton, Table Rock and more. It is the best I've ever used.

I also have a 162 Garmin with FHS but can't yet get to use it - waiting for more lakes for South Dakota. They only have Big Stone done. Hope they're working on it so I can replace the Roads and Recreation data I'm now using.
