I am having some problems with 2 boats and the Lowrance electronics on them. On each boat the Global Map 2000 is interfaced with the 350 A using the NMEA 0183 interface from the 350A to the Global Map. My trouble is on one boat the 350A (which is the primary reciever) keeps loosing its position and having to reaquire about every minute or so. I have it set to transmit the data to the Global Map on NMEA 0183 and the primary input device on the Global Map set to NMEA 183. On the other boat it is set up the same way but insteead of loosing position and having to reaquire the 350A does fine but the Global Map unit locks up and my position is not changing on it where it does on the 350A.

I'm stumped here folks. Any idea's on the cause of these problems?

Thanks in advance for any help I get.

PS. Advice as far as buying another unit instead of the Lorance is not needed as that is not an option for me at this time. :-)

Dan - haven't spoken to you in awhile. Are you running a charter operation again?

The first one sounds like a problem between with the GPS module and the LMS350A, not a link problem between GM2000 and LMS350A.

Unfortunately the second one sounds like a problem with the GM2000.

Have you tried the good LMS350A with the good GM2000 to see if there is a stable environment?

Have you spoken with Lowrance customer service, they have always been helpful when I've called in the past.

The logistics of trouble shooting can be a nightmare but if it's not a big pain, try running the gps recvr direct into the GM2000 of your #2 boat and of course re-opt'd the menu. You'll know right away if that GM2000 is OK or not since the gps rcvr/LMS350 are good. You could also use that same gps rcvr on your #1 boat to prove the unit on it good/bad. If the units themselves check out OK, double check all your wiring connection and reset all your menu options for both units per the directions in the GM 2000 book.

Just another tip.....the new Cabela's sale catalog shows the IMS Smart Map carts for $39.95. Sure a lot better than the $99.95 we paid a few years back !!

I am running my 350a on 2 boats, one with 12 channel and one with 5 channel module with a 2000 on one boat also, had to upgrade 350 so it would work on both channel modules when I did it,are your units both able to run on 5 and 12 channel gps modules if you have both or is this system one you have been using for a while and now having problems with?other than checking connections cant think of anything other than calling Lowrance, good luck..Bob

Thanks for the input guys it gives me some more ideas on what to look at / do to fix these problems.

These are units that have been in use for a while but the boss had someone come in and interface them last year now this spring they don't seem to work right anymore.

Thanks again
