Hey folks we all need to be a bit more careful.
I am reading about one fellow who falls and breaks his knee cab - ouch -
Another fellow, tears up his arm -- double ouch.
One of my fishing buddies may not be able to make opener - because of a ripped up ligament in his arm -- ouch.

Another fellow, who was coming on the trip - called and said, he pulled wrong on a tree branch, while trimming and may have ruptured a biceps muscle.

I think that we all need to be a bit more careful, and take it easy on some of these spring chorese, that we all MUST take care of before the summer comes along.

Lets hope that everybody recovers so that they can enjoy the summer and their families and friends.

Be careful.

3 years ago I seperated my shoulder 2 weeks before the opener. I fished it with a sling, but just rode along in my buddy's boat instead of taking my own. I was 6 weeks before I could pull up my anchor. Year and a half ago I tore my ACL 2 weeks before a Canadian fishing trip. I fished through the pain, waves and all. Both were careless wreckless injuries. Shoulder still gets a little sore when I cast all day.

We'er just not 18 anymore....and, as I think about it,I'm not sure I'd want to be.

Good post REW...its amazing the number of tradesmen I work with who get hurt at home. On the job they are the safest people I know but at home doing a little job cut a few corners on safety and end up seriously hurt. Its important to always be thinking guys....even on the little jobs.

I am with you, Larry. I would take back my 18 year-old body in a heartbeat, but I would not give up the extra 35 years of experience and good judgement (which stems from having used bad judgment ... lol) for anything!!

I was on Erie last summer and tore my ACL, and some cartlidge in knee. We were trolling east to west with big North wind. Waves were 5-6 ft and out of know where was a 10 footer. Didnt have enough time to turn into it and knocked me off the helm. One of the most painfull experiances ive ever had, and Dr. told me not to get into a boat untill July. I dont know what im going to do not being able to fish!
