Just picked up another spool of Ripcord, and was wondering what knot would be the best if i was goin to "Back" the spools with 20lb mono? And how do you tie it?

This question comes up quite often. Have always wondered why anyone would want to play out enough line to get to thier backing???

I simply tape off the backing with black electrical tape and add my new line. Tie it on just like I would to en empty reel. Put on enough new line that I would never let out enough to ever hit the backing while fishing.

I did some reading on the braid-mono connecting knots and found the wisest seeming thing to be an albright knot with the braid doubled over and otherwise tied normally.

Use the uni to uni knot. I think Dean has iinstructions on his page. Best knot for connecting Super lines to mono.

The Albright knot will not slip. The fireline part of the back to back uni might.
