I have recieved two tags and got my third tag this year. I apply for zone 6 and hunting in the Farmington area. All three tags have taken me two years to draw. I heard it depends on the zone you are applying for as to how many years it may take. Zone 6 has been great........tagged out both years with a 10 and a 12.....both in the 150 class. I'm heading down in one week to set stands and will be going back for the second gun season. I live in Northern Wisconsin. Can't wait!

I gave up and will be selling my land. Iowa loves to take my tax dollars, but hates to let me shoot deer on my own property and keeps asking me to pay more just to do so. $550 is not worth a deer tag to me. Even if it is for the chance at a monster. We are in Zone 3.
This is the only good deer we've taken off that piece. There are a lot of good bucks on there. Including 3 that are much bigger than this guy.
I put a thread in here about "iowa or missouri". I was wondering which state to buy property in and still be a non-resident. If you have to rely on the luck of the draw to get a deer tag to hunt on your own land, i'd say thats bs. I'll look into missouri.....pepe

Wade, The new governor elect says it will get easier if he has anything to say about it.
I can get a tag every year if I want. There are always tags available to non-residents in certain areas of Iowa for gun. But I always try for bow and they are difficult, usually it is about 2 tags for every 3 years applying, but I think the gig is up in my area and more are applying there so it will get more difficult.:boxing:
