I'm getting a little bored and a little ancy to get on the water so:
Let's talk about jig presentations.....

Do you have a favorite?
Have you had the same success with painted jigs vs. regular lead colored jigs?
Prefer leaches, minnows, crawlers?
Do your painted jigs have eyes, does it matter to you?

Let's hear what ya got to say!

Been doing really well with colored jigs, Mr Twister tails and tipped with a minnow.

157, if I'm casting jigs, I don't tip with any bait and use either bucktail or twister tail. If I'm drifting jigs, I generally use a bucktail tipped with a leech. If I'm vertically jigging, I prefer a Foxee Jig or Fuzzy Grub, tipped with a whole nightcrawler. When fishing under a bobber, I like to use Cubby Jigs tipped with a piece of crawler or minnow.

I should have been more specific, sorry. I've been having this luck vertical jigging.

The upper winnipeg river where I fish is very snaggy. I go through a lot of jigs in a season, so I stick to plain round painted jigs, tipped with frozen/salted shiners. I don't find that the plastic tails work any better for me.

I did try some of those Roadrunner jigs, with the little spinning spoons attached to the head. They are the only fancy jig that I've really liked, but I don't buy them on a regular basis.

If you haven't tried - drop shotting for this snaggy bottom, you should give it a try; you might like it.

Tie a hook or floating jig on the line, with about a 10-15 inch tag line.

Tie a lindy no snag - or similar snagless sinker on the end of the tag line - at a distance of somewhere from 4-10 inches from the hook or floating jig head.

Work your jig as usual - I dare say, that your hook up rate will be similar to - before - but your hook loss rate, will be way down.

take care

p.s.
If you use a pinch on split shot - for the weight - (of the appropriate size) - if you get snagged - pull off the weight- and squeeze on a new one-- no time lost and little money.

Hey River-eye do you fish around the selkerk area? I was up there last October and really enjoyed it.My password won't work so I can't E-mail you. If you go back and look at this could you e-mail please co I could talk Red River eyes with you? We will be up there again this October. Thank-you,Ryan(Setter)Hale, rchale@midlands.net.
As far as the jigging question goes I like Fuzz-E-Grubs. I also have had good luck with Whistler Jigs in dirty water.

Okay I think I know what you're talking about. This would be just a 2-way as opposed to a 3-way right? I was thinking of trying those lindy no-snag sinkers, but I'm still convinced that I'll manage to lose them.

Yeah - you can still lose those Lindy no-snag sinkers- I got a few snagged last year - at $4 bucks a pop, you start looking for cheaper alternatives pretty quick.

But...last year I was a bottom dragger; this year I've been enlightened. So hopefully my snag rate in general will decrease.
