I want to get out fishing so bad I can not sleep....
My lady friend got hit by a tornado and I have been sawing wood for a week. It looks like 3-4 weeks to go before even getting close to having the mess cleaned up. The worst part is a fishing vacation may be postponed with all the work to do. At least the house is OK. I never knew what a mess a twister makes up close but I thank God everyday no one was hurt.

Thanks.... Jim

She's a lady friend? Not a wife? Hmmmmm. Fishing or help her out. I see your dilemma, but I would have hired a tree removal service or the guy down the way who wants the fire wood. Then one or two days only, I'd invite her along to relax and clear her mind in the oh so wonderful world of fishing.

Sounds like everyone survived, property can be replaced, so my recommendation is to drink the whine and send the lady friend some roses.:)

Jim,

As you are the one doing the work (or at least a lot of it) and are not being paid for it (at least in money ... wink, wink, nudge, nudge), you get to help make the rules. That is how life works.

She ought to understand that 2 month's work does not have to be all done in 2 months. It can be spread out to fit your (and her) convenience. If she doesn't like that, then she can hire someone to do the work. Further, if she doesn't understand THAT, then one has to start wondering if she is someone you would want to make a PERMANENT PARTNER.

A relationship is a team thing. Support in a 2-person team is a 2-way street. There are enough things in your life that screw you over without having it done by friends or partners.

Why don't you sit down and talk with her about your thoughts. Her reaction and her perspective during that conversation will tell you a lot about her and whether you want that relationship to continue.

Been there, done that (with my first wife). Learned from it (got a GOOD second wife ... 24 years now ... soon to be 25). Hope this helps. Good luck.
