View Full Version : X-15 wont read any depth at speed
Just got a new X-15 and the sonar won't read depth or bottom at more than about 10 mph. I thought it was because the transducer was not low enough, so I lowered it and it still does'nt work. It just flashes a depth reading and freezes there until I slow down again. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanks
You still have turbulance from under the boat causing air bubbles to get around and under your transducer. Not knowing what boat you have, all my advise is keep moving it untill you get a signa. Also the manual has a good section in it showing how to mount the transducer.

I have found that in addition to the location, it is also important to tip the back of the transducer down about 1/4 inch from being parallel with the bottom of the boat. This has worked every time for me. Good fishing. I also have installed X-15's without any issues.

No reading's as you move through the water, has to be transducer issue's. I'd move it away from rivet's and any turbulence at the back of the boat.Get someone to simply hold it for you as you look at the screen, and move it and as best you can mark the transom.Doing this at "plane" will work. Also,if the duce'isn't pointed straight down,it won't give good reading's at any time.Slow or fast.

All of the above may be true, but I had the same problem with my X-15 last year plus a faulty temp reading. Sent it back to the factory over the winter and they gave me a new unit. This one reads bottom fine at speed - the location of the transducer is identical, so it was the unit or fualty transducer. If the above fixes don't help, I'd check with tech/customer support. Good luck.
