Is the Gps always on while you are using the sonar in these units. I'm
interested in the X-15 lowrance but don't like the idea of the
constant power draw of full time Gps. Would I be better with a stand
alone unit like the 2400.

Alby,

The x-15 is a very good unit. I still run the 350's on my rig, I have one on the bow and one on the counsole w/ GPS. My GPS went out on my 350 about one month ago so I decided to purchase the 2400 for a couple of reason. Heres my couple of pennies worth which I hope it helps you.
My main reason I bought the 2400 was to make sure my GPS and sonar were seperated. I did not want to take the chance of losing both sides if the whole unit blew.
My second reason is I was tired of running a split screen to see my sonar and GPS at the same time. I now have them running next to each other which eliminates the strain on my eyes.
The resolution is great on the 2400 with more pixels than the 350.
As far as power output I do not notice anything differant, they are both hooked up to my starting battery.

If I had a X-15, I would still go with the 2400 for GPS. You would not regret it at all.

Good luck,
