Are these reels any good? They sell for about $60 for both models? Does anyone have any reel experience with them?

I have four strikeline line counters which are the same as the south bends, just a different name printed on them. I'm trying to switch over to Daiwa as I get the money. The drag isn't the best, and since I troll with Fireline, I like to have a better drag on the reel, also there is no clicker, and the anti-reverse went out on one I had. Alright for the money, but if you can afford it go with Daiwa.

I bought one last year and used on the great lakes for trolling. They're ok. The drag is a little sticky and the lever release mechanism can be a pain. I say that because sometimes when you open the release it doesnt stay open on its own. I had heard this is a characteristic of these reels.

For what its worth, I only spent a couple bucks more for my okumas and they are much better.

Like Roscoe said, If you can manage the money go with the Diawa reels have fished with them hard for many years and work like they were just out of the box. Remember, if your going to try to save money on something, don't try and skimp on your reels!
