The new regulators that are coming on new grills, the one that fits the new valve. From what I can tell , you should also change over to the new regulator when you get your new tank or valve. It has the internal threads , but the new valve has an 0-ring that mates up to the male end of the new regulator. The old regulator had the o-ring on the male end. The only new regulators that I have seen, have a big old black plastic nut that goes around the external threads of the new valve. Does anyone else see a problem 5 or so years out where the plastic will degrade and crack and not let regulator have a tight fit. Plastic and sun do not mix. If someone does not use there grill alot, couldn't the plastic crack and give way just enough to let gas out after a guy turns on his gas valve. Not enough to pull away from the valve ,but enough to pull away from the 0-ring inside the valve and leak gas up into possibly a burning grill?? I know it is a long shot, but I'am a guy (as you know )who looks at design. When I looked at how they changed the regulator attachment system, I immediately questioned, why plastic on a part that is so crucial to safety. Am I just being anal or does anyone else see this too???
