I have had a number of problems with this unit, including 2 failed transducers, and the gps being inaccurate (epe going from 30ft to 700 ft, losing position). This year, the third transducer has worked like a charm, with detail including thermoclines and full fish arches that I have never been able to adjust for. I hope this one lasts more than one season!
I was moving the unit around trying to get better gps signal strength, and was considering moving the mount in front of the windshield, as it seemed to work better there. In frustration, I put the unit in the mount crooked (left side not in the gimbal but above it) and lo and behold, it started to function way better. in fact, it now finds the WAAS satellite, and the epe remains under 40ft most of the time, which in turn has made the speed and direction more accurate, rivalling my ifinder pro handheld. If you are having these same issues (there have been many complaints), give this a try.

So you suspect the Gimbal Mount is interfering with the GPS internal receiver?

That's interesting.

They are very glitchy about any tilt front to back, or they loose signal.....is the unit just higher and less subject to tilt now? Curious if that may be the deal as well?

I was thinking that the internal antenna was not mounted properly, and that running it ****eyed compensated. Was out twice more since then and it is still performing well.
