Here is my puppy Polar, my hunting and ice fishing pup. I can't wait to take him hunting and fishing. Has anyone else named their dog after any fishing stuff?

Great looking pup! How old?
Absolutely adorable! Such a cutie...:)
I'm guessing he's about 3 months old in this pic?
I've met dogs named:
Ranger
Hunter
Merc
Mercury
(that's all I can think of without any coffee in my system yet. lol)
Congrats on giving a good dog a good home. May you two be best of friends for many years to come!

He is almost 4 months old. Starting to learn speak so I can teach him to bark when the tip-ups go up. The breeder doesn't think I can teach him too, so I plan to make a movie of it.

I think you can too. I look forward to the movie when you succeed. :)

Got a Vizula that we named Barney after the great Walleye fisherman Barney Vanderhayden. He passed away a while back and he was as good as it gets at catching Walleye.
The dog Barney can't catch anything but Pheasents and Quail.

My Gordon Setter pup's name is Merc. I almost called him Vex (Vexilar) or Berkley.

My 4 yr old Viszla is named Berkley. Here is a pic of him. I am having my first child anyday now, and this was a toy for the new baby. Berk got ahold of it first.
Congrats on the pup.

Yeah, we had a hard time being mad at him for that one.
He really likes those toys, he grabs them quite a bit and wanders over to you with his tail between his legs. He knows it is wrong, but still worth it for him to get a mouth full.

I named my gal after a fish, Tuna. She's pretty much useless when it comes to fishing...basically just 100lbs of dead weight I bring along! But, she does make for good company!

Awesome man, I think REW would tell you to leave that extra 100lbs at the dock. But there is no way I would.

My 10 month old Golden (3 months old at the time) named Ranger. If I switch boats, do I rename the dog ?

I named my English Springer Spaniel "GAUGE". I bought him and brought him home on July 3,2006. The following day, I had a 4th of July party, and a few buddies and I were out on my land shooting clay pigeons. The new pup was up in the house with my girlfriend and went to the back patio door and started crying to go outside when we were shooting. She thought he had to go potty so she let him out. He took off running toward us shooting clay pigeons and she started yelling "puppy!", cause he did not have a name yet. I heard her yelling and looked back in the direction of the house, and all I saw was an 8 week old springer running towards us through the woods. His ears were bouncing every where. My buddies and I all were laughing, and could not believe at only 8 weeks old and never being around guns yet, that it did not scare him. He spent the rest of the afternoon out there with us, and my buddies and I came up with the name ,"Gauge". To this day, we can't shoot clay pigeons without him sitting on the tailgate of the truck watching.

My 8 year old Golden is named Goose and I dont goose hunt. Just last year I began taking her in the pontoon. Now if I even utter the word 'fishing' she gets excited. If there is nothing blocking her way she runs for the pontoon and jumps in. I tought her to speak when she was a pup. It's her hallmark trick!
I have no doubt you could teach your dog to bark at a deployed tipup.
