View Full Version : Milli Lacs
I am going to be at Milli Lacs the middle of May and I am planning on doing some slip bobber fishing. My question is what kind of anchor setup do I need and what is the best way to anchor. I will be in a twenty foot boat. Thanks for any info.

It's best to have a big anchor. I like the Navy style thats 28 to 30 lbs. The Richter is another good anchor. You also want at least 100' of good anchor rope and more is better. Some people use a chain hooked up the the anchor then the rope, I have done this in the past but don't see the need with the heavier anchors.

Fishtail,
The reason for the chain attached to the anchor is to spare the wear and tear on your rope. Some of those rocks on Mille Lacs are extremely sharp and its just a gaurantee to save some dollars replacing that anchor should it get sheared off. I would get at least 150' of good quality anchor rope for those windy days on the lake - especially with a 20' boat. You may need it to hold when the winds get up there.
