View Full Version : Bud Erhardt custom rods
Does anyone out there have experience with these rods? They are a custom line of rods with spiral line guides on the casting rods. I bought one (7ft 1pc MH) at a sportsman show a few years ago and absolutely love it. Need to know where I can find another, he has since been absent from the shows. Any advice is appreciated..thanks

Those rods are built in Hopedale Illinois I believe. They sell them at TNT marine in Bartonville IL. I also believe Bud has a website don't know the address, but try a search. John Phillips who fishes the PWT this year is sponsored by them. You can also contact him via his website, and ask him about the rods.

Jay,
I've got a couple of Bud's rods and really like them. There was some kind of split up between Bud and his business associates. I think Bud still has a line of rods. I saw a group at the Cleveland IX center sports show this winter that had "fishin sticks". This was the group Bud used to be associated with. Anyhow they told me the rods were made at the same place with same stuff, just don't have Bud's name on them anymore. They appeared to be identical to the ones I have with Bud's name on them. I think I have one of their brochures at home. Will look over the weekend and post if I find it. You might try a web search. I think Bud was from Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Unless you guys are talking about a different Bud Erhardt fishin stick, the rod shop is in Hopedale, IL. Just looked up the website fishinsticks.com It has alot of info. I've seen the rods retail for around $100 at TNT marine, but don't know if that is high end low end or what.

Thank you!!!!! for the excellent responses, I have since bookmarked the website. My needs for this rod are a bit specific. I am looking for a good pike rod (7 foot casting trigger handle)and don't know if I should go with the MH or the H action. I definitely want to be able to handle good size northerns but I don't want to manhandle them, any advice??

For pike do you recommend MH or H action, 7 ft trigger, primarily casting spoons and bucktails?
