I am in the market for a new ice fishing suit. I am looking at the vexilar cold snap parka suit or the ice armor black/blue suit.

thanks

There's a lot of good ice fishing suits out there right now and the cold snap and ice armor are two of them -- they all use good materials to keep you warm and dry, they use light-weight materials that keep you warm, and they have good quality construction.

Another suit you might want to look at is the Arctic Armor suit. Compared to the cold snap and ice armor suits you asked about, the AA suit will be a bit warmer and a bit lighter weight. And what I really like about Arctic Armor suits is that you float in them if you happen to go in the water ---- you float because the insulation traps so much air it keeps you afloat, and the insulation doesn't absorb water so you could float forever. I use my Arctic Armor suit for all my cold weather fishing now, whether in the boat or on the ice. They're a little more pricey than the cold snap and ice armor suits, but I think the flotation ability is worth it.

You can see the Arctic Armor suits by following the link in my signature if you want. Hope that helps and have fun shopping.

I also have Arctic Armor, but have never owned another brand because my Arctic Armor replaced a pair 30 year old coveralls. I really haven't heard anything bad about any of the brands and have only tried one other brand on for fit. I like the fact that Arctic Armor is very light and easy to move around in. I did learn that ya don't put the bibs on at home and then drive to the lake. It is really easy to look like an idiot while you are driving down the highway on a ten below day with the heater turned off and all of the windows rolled down. lol

I bought an Arctic Armor a couple seasons ago for the safety factor. They are OK but get clammy, just don't breathe well. I'd rate it pretty low for comfort, high for peace of mind.

My cold weather suit is a Buoy O Buoy survival suit. It will keep you warm as toast all day long in the coldest weather. It is also a floatation suit that will keep you up and a float if the ice breaks under you and you end up in the water.
I do not ice fish, but I wear it all winter in my boat and even wear it when I snow blow the drive way. It is also waterproof.

Have you checked out the new Frabill Ice suit?

A local dealer has a demo one in his store right now and I must say they are very sharp looking.
I'll definately be getting one when his shipment comes in.

I have the Snosuit Artic Bibs and I gotta say they are warm and well made. I think they are worth a look.

I also have the Arctic Armor suit and won't fish over cold water or on ice without it! I've worn other floatation suits and the AA is so much lighter and more comfortable.

If you look around you can get the Greenbay "Cheesehead" suit for under $300 including shipping. It's the one I have, and I call it my John Deere suit.

Here's a link to the sale.

I use the Vexilar Cold Snap suits and also the Frabill Snow Suit. Both are excellent systems and each has there own strong points.

What I highly recommend is to try on both, see what model fits best. Bibs vary to each person for comfort.

Bibs are a key part of a good suit, so get a good feel if they work well for your body type before you buy.
