Does rain, snow, or cold affect musky fishing? I have a trip to Hayward, Wisconsin 10-23-10 and the weather report looks terrible...Has anyone out there ever fished in not so nice weather and did well? Make me feel better...MH34:confused:

Almost all of my most memorable days muskie fishing came in cold, rainy, windy fall frontal conditions. In fact, I already got clearance from the wife for 22-25 off to fish St Clair with a buddy who is coming into town.

I have caught muskies in all kinds of weather, warm sunny days, cold dark over cast days and everything in between. Rain and snow included. As far as water temperature is concerned 55 is about when the return to the harbor from the lake.

Musky love bad weather, the more unstable the better.

Hot chocolate and a bit of peppermint snapps works for me..:)

Top water baits like suicks haven't worked as well for me in them conditions, but baits that run close to the surface seem to....sometimes..:)

I usually bring a few of the hand warmer packets and stuff in my pockets and such, keeping your hands warm makes for an easier day.

jigging for muskies works great, we have caught more muskies on these that on anything else.
