I normally would not post something like this on this site, but this situation touches my heart and I feel I have to do something. I would like to ask anyone who has a good home to consider adopting a dog named Lobo from the Osceola County animal shelter. They can be contacted at (231) 832-5790 if you are interested.
2 summers ago, a family that lives across the street from me had 2 dogs, a German Shepard and a ****zu. Both were allowed to roam the streets freely. After numerous calls to Animal control by all in the neighborhood, they finally got rid of the German Shepard, but the ****zu stayed. They ended up tying the ****zu up out back where it later died that summer. I have heard rumors that the ****zu expired from heat exhaustion.
Unforturnately, anybody can adopt a dog and Lobo was adopted by this family last summer. They brought him home as a puppy and he is now about 1 year old. He is all black with a white patch on his chest. He appears to be a shepard mix and weighs about 50lbs.
This family did not have any reason to adopt Lobo. They never gave him the attention that a puppy needs. They would leave him tied up on a short chain in the front yard for hours on end. When they would come home, they would walk right past him without acknowledging he was there. Occassionally, Lobo would get off his chain and run the neighborhood. He would come over and visit my dog and they would play for a long time. Lobo was never agressive towards my dog or myself. He rarely barks.
Throughout the last year, Lobo would get off his chain on occassion and run the streets. I don't blame the dog, he was looking for attention and excersise. Finally, about a weekago, the family had enough with Lobo getting loose and turned him over to the Osceola county animal control. They said they couldn't handle him anymore. In my opinion, they were selfish and unwilling to give the time necessary to train there dog.
Lobo is a very loving dog. When he was running free, I captured him a few times and put him on a leash so he was safe. He behaved himself very well and didn't mind having the leash on. He was very affectionate when I had control of him. I could tell he would be a very loving dog if given the love and attention he deserves. If you are interested in a good dog and live in West Michigan, please consider Lobo. His time at the shelter is limited as they are overcrowded as it is.
Unfortunately, my living situation will not allow me to bring a second dog into my home right now, otherwise, I would have adopted Lobo myself. I normally would not ask for help for an individual dog, since there are so many out there that need help, I wouldn't be able to choose. But I personally know Lobo. He is a great dog and never got a fair chance with a loving family. I would hate to see him put to sleep because some human idiot decided they wanted a cute puppy in the house and then got rid of him because he didn't train himself.
Please feel free to email me at rogerm@tir.com if you would like more information.
Thanks,
Roger
