I am thinking of mounting a pedastel base on the hatchcover of my battery compartment. I want to be able to move one of my pedastel seats to use when I am sitting way in back running my kicker. I am tired of perching on a cushion... I am concerned that my weight and the torque will destroy the entire hatch cover thing if I mount the pedastel base there. What do you think?

I'm believe you are correct in thinking that the weight of you and the pedestal seat will destroy the cover not to mention if it is a taper lock pedestal base you would have to cut a hole in the cover and the bottom of your base will be sticking down into your battery compartment a couple of inches.

I was thinking about doing that, but using the pedestal only for my Rod Wrangler.

I know it would wreck my LUND doors. But I think some fiberglass boats have a heavy duty panel for their doors. I still don't think I would trust it.

I am a fabricator,I am quite sure that it would destroy your box lid.The compartments aren't built with that type of use intended.
