LaCrosse Ice Kings, great for standing on the ice but very heavy if your walking a lot.

I dont think Mickey Mouse (Bata) boots can be beat. One pair of normal socks and your feet will be warm in any winter weather. We have been wearing them for many years and the price is darn reasonable.

I've never gotten cold with mukluks. You need to waterproof them though.

Most of the lakes around here allow NO motor vehicle travel on the ice. It's foot travel or nothing. For those lakes I travel with light "duck" style boots and carry my Ice Kings on a plastic tote on my gear sled. Seperate socks, and if it's going to be really cold,a hot-hands tucked into each boot to pre-warm them. I end up rarely changing boots, though, because I also have a flip-over shanty and heater. I often do a 3 mile milk-run and don't want the heavy boots.

When deep snow makes foot travel a chore,I bring the snowmobile on one of the lakes that allow atv or snowmobile travel. Then it's ice kings if cold, ducks if not.

The best boots in the world won't be warm if they're tight. Good fit is - imo - far more important than brand.

The Cabela's Trans Alaskan III Boots, none better for the ice.

Best I have ever used, not even a hint of cold feet even in -40, with light sock liners on, not even heavy socks. A lighter tech sock like a Smart Wool sock is all you will need.

Awesome suggestions, thanks everyone. I'd like a pair of each... :shame:
We have a Cabela's up here in Winnipeg so I might be making a trip there today. I haven't yet decided if I want some ankle support for walking.
And always looking for a sale, we Winnipeggers are cheap. :p Hafta shop around!

I haved used the white bunny boots for 20 years....same pair....
from guiding whitetails and sitting in stands all day at -30 and beyond temps
to icefishing outside down to minus 40.....not once ever have i ever had cold or wet feet.....
a little awkward for foot races but so are most of the others mentioned...

I went to Cabela's today, I have to say, those Trans Alaskan boots are pretty awesome, and better than the ones I thought I would like.
They're really thick in the soles and very light. Probably the thickest they had.

I've heard Baffin Boots from Canada are great boots for xtream cold conditions, also they use (timber wolf leather) for the upper part on some of there boot's! :smirk:

My wife really likes her mucks!! Says her feet have never been cold while on the ice...waterproof and warm.

I have had zero complaints with my Cabelas Infernos. Going on 4 years...dry and toasty. If you like that style boot, good choice.

That said...I'll be buying new Mucks in the next week or so myself.

I agree!

I have three pair of Lacroose boots warm and well made the Ice kings are great for icefishing and standing in water slush on the ice. I have a pair of Extreme boots by Lacroose this boot is high up over the ankle for deep snow and slush never cold feet. Lots of good boots to choose from as others have stated.

I have had the La Crosse Ice Kings for the last several years, and have never had cold feet, no matter the temperature or what I am doing.

One thing that is somewhat important with many of the ice boots.
i.e. arch support. Many of the boots have essentially a flat sole with a flat boot liner on the inside of the boot.

If you do much walking the lack of arch support really can give rise to tired feet.

So, in virtually any of the ice boots - having little or no arch support, add a pair of arch supports to the boots and your feet will thank you for it.

I was reading a thread on another fishing forum where people weren't very happy with the new Baffin boots. They seem to think that the newer ones are made in China now instead of Canada. Just what I read since I know nothing about them. Rumor or truth???

Many of our favorite boot company have gone to outsourced countries, namely China. Companies like Lacrosse, Matterhorns, etc.,...
