I just got an X-15 and don't pick up much at full throttle
I like to seek out deeper schools with the unit and do so at 10 to 15 mph.
Is this too fast? Can I go faster?
thanks

We run at almost 40mph and still pickup fish arches . Adjust your transducer mount .
The sonar travels at the speed of sound, about a 1000 ft a second, and if your sonar is pointed straight down and you're not moving, that's OK. If you are traveling, it takes a while for the sound to get back to the receiver and you may be gone when it gets there and not get a signal. Therefore, point the transducer a bit ahead of you so that you will get the return signal before your get out of the arc of the signal if you are going to want a reading at speed.

I agree with the other posts.
For a guideline, set you transducer level with the bottom of the boat, then angle it 1 "click" forward on your bracket. That should give you about a 5 degree angle.
I can run wide open and never lose the bottom with it adjusted this way.
Hope this helps.

Too fast is the point where your boat gets too light and flies up in the air like those racing boats. hehe

10-15 is about right with me also. Even less when a accurate grayscale reading is needed. Operating manually is alot easier at slower speeds also, as sudden depth changes require auto especially with bottom tracking zoom.
