View Full Version : How much leader behind my leadcore?
Okay... I put a whole bunch of Power Pro on a line counter reel then three colors of 27lb. leadcore line, now... I would like to put on a mono leader, but how much is too much - not enough - or just right?

I use 6-8' 10 pound mono in water from 14-30' deep.

I have always used 10 feet for walleyes and Wipers, and 30 feet for trout and Salmon.
depends on how clear the water is were your fishing. In clear water go to a longer lead, around 20 to 30 feet. In stained or dirty water you can use 6 to 10 feet. If fishing clear water let the fish also tell you. If your running more than one line, use one to run even a longer lead and see which one gets the action.
