Getting a new pup for x-mas,,, a all liver GSP. Has anyone tried the BARF diet for dogs? I like the idea of NO grains in his diet.

When my Golden was suffering bad allergies, I did a raw meat/bones diet with him for a few weeks and it improved his health pretty quickly. It makes sense, but can be pretty pricey to keep up.

(note: Raw bones are okay, but cooked bones are never okay)

Great looking Pooch! Take a look at "Taste of the Wild" dog food.

I am using it with my cats and plan to switch my dogs over as soon as possible.

Adorable pup man,

I run Purina Pro Plan in my dog and have no complaints. The main ingredients are Meat and Rice which are good enough for me.

I also am around Lab trainers and they feed there dogs the same. The lab in the picture below retreived no less than 400 ducks/geese in Canada this year in a weeks time. He was so tired after a day of hunting we laced his food with raw eggs to get him to eat.

Not saying Pro Plan is the best, but a Tractor supply is close to my house.

No grains is probably not a good idea, majority of foods contain grain in them. Dogs need the nutrients they provide as well, they aren't just filler (in good foods).

Nice looking Lab...400 retreives thats allot of shooting!

I ended up selecting Orijen.. http://www.orijen.ca/orijen/about/ pup formula.

One interesting ingrediant is wild caught WALLEYE! I sure hope by using this product im not hurting the walleye population on someones favorite lake!!!!:sorry:

Yes it was a lot of shooting. I burned up 2 and a half cases of 3.5 inch BB that week. SBE II never let me down.
