First time to Michigan and looking for info on Emily Lake and Rader's Resort. We fished in Minnesota for 20 years and thought we would try something different this year but don't know a lot about Mich fishing. Thanks for any info you can give us.

I don't know where Emily Lake is located so I would recommend you try information. The area code for the entire UP (God's Area Code), is 906. So try 906 555 1212. Post back as to where Emily Lake is located and perhaps I can be more helpful.
jigger, Emily Lake is located between Crystal Falls and Iron River north of Rt. 2. The resort we have reservations at is Rader's Resort. We found them in the MidWest Outdoors magazine. Thanks for the response and we hope to hear from you again.

I live Houghton just north of where you are going. I am not really familiar with where you are going to fish but if you want a treat for a day put your boat on a trailer and come up to Portage Lake and try for some Walleyes, Pike, Bass, or whatever. Out Tournament is June 10 and have catagories for each. Let me know if you want some help.
Stacker, thanks for the message. We are coming up the third week of July. We may give Portage Lake a try if the fishing is bad on Emily Lk. Any info on Portage Lake will be appreciated. My husband likes to fish for walleye but I like fishing for crappie. Any crappie in Portage??

Emily Lake is small, 312 acres, but my Tom Huggler book says it has walleyes in it. If you are headed to that part of the UP I too would recommend Portage/Torch Lakes ( they are connected). Yes, they do have crappies, big walleyes, smallmouth bass a a well earned reputation for huge northern pike. There are many resorts as well as campgrounds on it and the two lakes represent a lot of water,Portage Lake itself is almost 10,000 acres. You could get information through the Houghton Chamber of Commerce and fishing info through Dick's Favorite Sports which is either Houghton or Chassel. One of my buddies got a #13 eye oout of Portage last year!
jigger, thanks for the message. We will probably give Portage a try. Wish we had known about this site before we made our reservations at Emily Lake and Rader's Resort. Oh well, maybe next year.
