how does a bottom bouncer compare to a inline trolling sinker when used in a spinner bait presentation? does the bottom bouncer always keep the bait slightly off bottom? thanks

Steve, bottom bouncers work extremely well in areas like Lake Erie, usually weedless bottom and very flat. In Lakes like Lake St. Claire, we used mainly in-line sinkers with harnesses. We would use just enough weight to stay above the weeds, and adjust our trolling speed accordingly. I have used in-line sinkers in Lake Erie if the fish are in the upper half of the water column, or during the fishfly hatch.

I like inline when the bottom is very rocky or when it is very windy. as one can easily moderate the depth by adding extra weight as needed. and also it helps by keeping your baits close to the boat

I use inline sinkers when ever I do long line trolling with the rods in holders. I use bouncers when I want to go deep and troll very slow. I also have much better results when I hold the rod in my hand and keep working it so I have a feel on the bottom.
