Ok, four of us are planning a trip to South Bass next spring/summer. A couple of my buble headed friends are telling me that after such a date the ferries stop bringing truck and boat combos to the island because it not aloud.

Any help with this OR anything else would be great. P.S. what is the magizines name just for Lake Erie.

When things start to get busey, they won't let you take a car or boat to the island unless you live there or have proof that you have a place rented. The people you rent from will give you the proper paper work to get you there.-----------Try lakeerie.com

This hasn't been my experience...at least I've never had to have physical proof I had a place to stay. I've been there several times (and will be again in about 8 days) and never had to show proof. I always camped at the state park & have always taken over a PU truck/camper& boat. No one has even asked if I had a place. I do call the state park before I get on the ferry to be sure I'm not taking a $100 ferry ride.

Is the physical proof thing new? Since OH state parks don't take reservations I'd be hard pressed to prove I have a camp site.

Just checked their website http://www.millerferry.com

Under the Schedules & Fares, Driver's List it does mention proof of a place to stay when bringing a vehicle over. I'll have to call them.

Don_SD I've been there in early spring & into the summer & theyhave never stopped me from taking the truck/boat combo over. Call them.
