Lets just say that you've finally talked the wife into letting you go walleye fishing in the Great Lakes. Lets also say that you will be flying in and renting a charter boat and guide for about 3 days. Your after a really big eye, Ten pounds plus! (Might not be so big to those who live around there but huge to me). Where would you go? When would you go? And who would you hire? Let assume this is for next year. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Tight Lines!

You are going to get so many me, me, mes, that it's going to sound like an acappello chior warming up. But I'm going to reccomend my brother Rich Stedke. He runs a 32' Marinette fully equiped, & Coast Guard licenced. Contact him at 419 234 3707 or 419 228 6576.
The big fish are most reliable when the weather is the least reliable, ie. early spring and late fall, which can make things tricky.
I hope things work out well for you. Good luck.

I guide up here on Lake St Clair on the Ont/Mich border for Muskies and Walleyes. One of my clients fishes The Bay of Quinte off of Lake Ontario every year and has caught some HUGE 'Eyes up there in the real late fall. Email me and I'll try and hook you up with the guy.

I guide on Bay of Quinte for fall trophies. If you book for Nov/Dec I will guarantee you several 10 plus fish in 3 days or it's a free trip.Look in the 10 pound club on this board under Tom Gustar and freinds and you will see one days catch from last fall. I have about another 100 ten plus fish to go on the board when I get some time to send them. Email me at tgustar@aol.com and I will send you my number.Make sure you post something in the subject column like regarding Quinte fall guide service etc. If I don't recognise emails I have a tendency to delete them to avoid viruses.
Thanks Tom Gustar

I cannot tell you who to use for a guide because we always bring our own boats, but if you are truly looking for trophy fish and more than one or two, you cannot beat Lake Erie in April. Just look at the results from the PWT. More than 350 fish over 10lb. The only problem can be the weather. Been there 4 times, had two days total (out of 16) that we could not fish. If you go there in mid May, you will catch lot and lots of fish, but not nearly the size as in April. If you want one for the wall, I believe this is the best place and the best time anywhere in the world. The one I have mounted from Erie was 32 5/8" and weighed 12.2 spawned out. One day this year we had four 10's in 1 hour.
Just my opinion.

I would say go to Erie in the fall, find a charter that trolls and will take you to 27/27. Have fun on the Great Lakes its a great place to fish.

Erie in april is the ticket. To catch the big fish you have to go with someone who specializes in trolling. Most of the charters jig on the reefs at this time of year. The guy you want to talk to is steve. He runs Freebird out of oak harbor. I personally troll for these monster walleye here, and can tell you it's the best. If your interested, let me know. WalleyeGuy@comcast.net I can steer you to steve, he offers full lodging, and charter's.

Bigeye......Targa2 in the above posts isn't B.S'n. This guys is a big fish guide. I do 't normally pull some one's chain but when A guide can guarantee you fish in the 10lb+ range or it's free. It's probably worth checking out. Especially with references from other guides. I'm planning a trip up that way myself this fall. I've seen some pictures from up there. You'd like them!

If you want to catch the fish yourself (as opposed to trolling and letting the boat hook it for you)hit Lake Erie in late May, early June in the Vermilion or Lorain areas. My two 12-pounders came off Vermilion.
