I am new to the boards and purchased a new boat at the end of last year and would like to get insurance for the upcoming season. I have read several posts on the different policies and wondered if anyone could offer some advice on what coverage I should have. I have contacted my local State Farm agent and they did not offer much info except a depreciated replacement value and no coverage for equipment. Any info would be appreciated.

State Farm? I quite surprised that your agent could only give you that small amount of info. My State Farm agent has me covered with liability, equipment, comp, towing, as well as, storage. Since I store it in my garage, it is covered as a rider to my homeowners, and it is called an inland marine policy. It isn't all that expensive either. If you can't get what you need from your agent PM me, and I'll have mine email me all the coverages you need. I even have hunter's liability insurance, and firearms coverage.

Talk to Bob. He can answer all of your questions.

State Farm is not the insurance company to use for your boat coverage.

I use SF for my house and valuables, but Old United Casualty Insurance Co. / Angler's Advantage is who I used for my boats over the years. Better price and better coverage. Make sure to get total replacement value and not a depreciated value.
