View Full Version : Are drift socks trolling bags?
Read a post about a guy about trolling plates and someone recommended he try trolling bags. Never heard of them, are they the same as drift socks? If not where can I find them? Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanx
Not to a serious troller they aren't. Trolling will shread most drift socks. Trolling bags must be heavy duty. Sea anchors aren't trolling bags either. Look for water dragons by Angler's Edge.
They're the best I've seen. Good Luck.
thanks for the reply ETT. Can you tell me what retailers handle the bags? I thought socks we're not strong enough to troll with, but never saw or heard of bags B4. Thanx again

ETT,
Where can we get these Water Dragons for trolling. Cheaper than a kicker motor, for now. Thanks for your help! JJ

In theory they aren't, but in some situations I will troll with my Wavetamer and it works great. Because of the way it's made I will never ruin that bag.

Have not used the Dragon myself so I cannot comment on that, but I have used the Wave Tamer that Mongo is talking about. I have a 40HP that needs slowing occasionally. Especially when I want to forward troll into the wind. Due to the high quality construction and the design of this bag, I can try it off on the bow and let the bag run under the boat with out any fear of blowing the bag. This methode also provides a tangle free location for the bag. When a fish is hooked and I need to stop forward movement, the bag simply swings out in front and keeps the boat headed into the wind. I have closed the trail port down to increase drag without any problems either. Take a look at them. Web site is driftbag.com.
