Puchased a new pinpoint this year and it seems like it is hard to see in certain light levels... Had a eagle optima before and it was easy to read any time.. is it just a darker screen or am I having trouble with this graph.. I have nothing to compare it to... Thanks

I've got the same problem with my 7420. I've tried every type of shield and filter I can find...nothing seems to help. Any suggestions before I remove this from the boat?

I have a 7520 - actually 2 of them - I had to play with contrast to get it where I like it, also find I leave the backlight on a lot longer in the morning and ealier in the eve.

If the screen display has a contrast adjustment give that a try,
this is the usually the problem on sudden chgs in light conditions for LCDs, also check your backlight adjustment too.

I had 2 7420's that I bought and used last year. This year I went to 7520's.Both my 7420's had dark screens.I saw on this site not to long ago some other people saying their 7420's had dark screens as well.I think they said it had to do with the type of screens used in those models. My 7520's are still darker than other sonars I've seen but much better than the 7420's.I have been very happy with my 7520's.I still have one of my 7420's sitting in the box that needs the screen fixed.Never got around to sending it in.Lines started to develop on the screen once the unit was on for awhile. No problems with the 7520's.my 2 cents good luck goose925

I agree.
I leave backlight on all the time.
